Valley of Fire

The Valley of Fire is a geologic wonderland located about an hour away from Las Vegas. The name comes from the vivid red rocks (Aztec Sandstone) that appear to be on fire when hit by the sun. In addition to the red rocks, the park also has pink, tan, and white limestone formations. All this combined with a bright blue sky made for stunning colors and landscapes. The park, which is Nevada’s oldest state park, is a 1.5 hours drive from Hoover Dam, so I was able to see both sites in the same day.
